I found that when I use Google and tried to search for: ´download time ca´ then Googles auto completed the search to: ´download time calculator´ . But I wanted it to be: ´download time calculate´.
Since I lacked the word "calculator" on site I had to do some rewriting of the content so that I also had the word.
So try to search for different things on Google and see if your site matches any of it. Otherwise it is smart to try and adjust the site so that more searches generates hits on your site.

A site is as good as its content is. If you have good and relevant content, then people will find your site. The same people will come back and tell others. Perhaps they will add links to your site on their sites, and by so you will get a higher pagerank.
Also consider specialising your site. You might have an interest in cars and especially Ferrari, then your site should be about Ferrari and not cars. Since your interest is in Ferrari you are more likely to write new and interesting stuff about Ferrari then other cars. Also it is more likely that you will keep the site alive since what you write about is interesting to you.

Perhaps you have heard of Google Pagerank. Its a way measuring how popular/important a site is.
When you first publish your site you will have a pagerank of 0, max is 10.
If you want to get a higher pagerank you will have to have other sites link to your site. But the sites that are linking to you should be sites with a high pagerank. Also you want "good" sites to link to yours, sites that Google think are good sites.

I added my site to Google about two weeks ago and after a few days I got worried why my site wasn't visible on Google. I asked around with my friends and one of them told me about Google blacklist. I looked at the Webmaster Tools and found that about two years ago someone else had tried to verify download-time.com as their site. So my guess is that the previous owner of the domain had something on their site that Google didn't like.
I have since a few days ago request a reconsideration of my site and hope that very soon it will be visible on Google.

A name for your site
The name of the site should reflect what the site is about. Unfortunately a lot of names are already taken, some in hope that they site will be bought. If a site only has ads and links on it, then the site is almost for sure for sale.
If the name is already taken and you don't want to buy the site, then you need to be creative and think of similar name or do a bit of word puzzling.

First of all you need an idea for a site. It could be something that you are interested in or something that you think is missing on the Internet. If you have an interest in something then you can be sure that you are not alone with this interest.
For my own site I found that there was something missing on the Internet. In my work I sometimes needed to calculate the time it would take to download a file depending on the download speed. But every site I found the Internet always had predefined speeds and I needed to be able to set my own speed. So I built a site that had what I found was missing.
So that is another way to go about it, take make something that already and exist and make it better.

This blog was first intended for my own purposes. A way of documenting how I got my site on the Internet Every step I had to make to get google and other people find it, and hopefully get a good google-rank.
